DARGAH-E-HAZRAT SYEDINA AYUB (ALAIHIS-SALAAM)_Jebel Ittin_Salalah_Oman.

Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem.

Allahumma Salle Ala Syedina Muhammadin Wo 'ala 'Aali Syedina Muhammadin Wo Barik wo Salim

Dargah of Prophet ( Nabi ) : Hazrath Syedina Ayub Alaihis-salatus-salaam.

Place : Jebel ( Mount ) Ittin , ( 40 kms from Salalah main city ) , Salalah

Country : Oman.

The magical monsoon charm of Dhofar is accentuated by the region's diverse religious and historic heritage. Among the scores of historic and religious sites in the Dhofar region is the Prophet Hazrath Ayub Alaihis-salatus-salaam (Job in Bible) mausoleum on one of the many summits in the Jebel Ittin .

Ayaths Regarding Ayub Ali Salam

The mist-laden hills of Dhofar have been luring a huge number of tourists over the years. And Prophet Ayub Alaihis-salam's Dargah ( tomb ) is one of the sights which get maximum number of tourists. It is rightly said that the route leading to the destination dargah shareef is a traveller's delight. This is true in the case of visiting Prophet Ayub's Dargah ( tomb ). As you ascend the steep hill breathtaking scenery unfolds before your eyes. At times thick mists can momentarily obscure the scenic landscape disappointing enthusiastic shutterbugs. The spectacular half-an-hour drive leads you to the mausoleum sitting amidst trees where birds like bright yellow Ruppell's Weavers have made nests. On a clear day the view from the top is awesome, even the plains of Salalah is distinctly visible. "In the Muslim world there are two names that come up immediately when the word 'patience' is mentioned, one is Hazrath Syedina Imam Hussain (Razi Allahu Anhu ) bin Ali karam Allahu Wajhu (grandson of Beloved Muhammad Sal lal lahu alaihi wo salam ) and the other is Prophet Hazrath Ayub Alaihis salam"

An ancient Masjid with Mihrab beside the Dargah Shareef :-The remains of an ancient mosque with the mihrab (the niche where the Imam leads the prayers) set in the direction of Al Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem are part of the mausoleum. Before the time of Beloved Prophet Muhammadur Rasool Allah Sal lal lahu alaihi wo salam (Pbuh) the direction for prayers was towards the Al Aqsa Mosque. It was during Prophet Hazrath Sydina Muhammad's Sal lal lahu alaihi wo salam (Pbuh) time that the direction was changed to Makkah. People often sit in the beautiful environs around the Dargah ( tomb ) of Hazrat Ayub Alaihis-salatus-salaam enjoying the cool breeze and the scenery.

The Dargah ( tomb ) of Nabi Hazrat Syedina Ayub Alaihis-salatus-salaam Alaihis-salaam (or Job) is around 40 kilometres from Salalah on Jebal Ittin. There is a mosque and Dargah ( tomb ) where the remains of the Prophet, quite possibly Job from the Old Testament, are located. There is a small garden to walk through to get to the Dargah ( tomb ) which is housed in a small building. Immediately next to the Dargah ( tomb ) are the walls of a small room used for prayer. The appearance is much like a mosque however the date of the life of the Prophet is pre-Islam. One section of the wall faces Jerusalem which is the direction the Prophet would face for prayer. Though his life is also pre-Judaism, even at that time he believed in the Oneness of Allah.

MAZARMUBARAK-E-HAZRAT SYEDINA AYUB (ALAIHIS-SALAAM)_Jebel Ittin_Salalah

THE PAIGHAMBAR PROPHET ( ANBIYA ) KNOWN FOR HIS GREAT PATIENCE ( SABR) , Nabi Hazrat Syedina Ayub Alaihis-salatus-salaam alaihis-salatus-salaam's illness spanned over 15 years after recovery lived from 92 years and took wisal at the age of 250 years :-

MAZARMUBARAK-E-HAZRAT SYEDINA AYUB (ALAIHIS-SALAAM)_Jebel Ittin_Salalah

Prophet Ayub Alaihis salatus-salaam [PBUH](a descendant of the Prophet Hazrat Syedina Ibrahim Alaihis-salatus-salaam [PBUH]). Hazrat Ayub Alaihis-salaam was a very rich man before thieves attacked his big farm, killed many of his servants, and ran away with his cattle. After some time the roof of his house gave in, resulting in the death of many of his family members. A few years later a skin disease caused ulcers on his face and hands. His sores were full of worms. It is said that when any of those worms fell down he used to pick them up and put them back inside. Even his wife under the influence of Iblees (Satan) left him. But he remain patient and never lost his faith in Allah even after he was severely tested by allah many a times .And he was rewarded for it. Allah cured him and restored his old status and this great prophet Hazrat Syedina Ayub Alaihis salatus salaam is known for his great " Patience " mentioned in Quran.

First_Enterance_To_Dargah_of Hazrat_Ayub_alaihis_Salam.

Nabi Hazrath Syedina Ayoub Alaihis salatus salaam was from Syria and had two wives. He had become very sick and the illness spanned over 15 years. During that time the exterior of his body became infested with worms. Nabi Hazrat Syedina Ayub Alaihis-salatus-salaam Alaihis salam believed that his flesh was the food for these creatures of Allah and to show his devotion to Allah, he allowed the worms to eat of his flesh. If a worm would fall off, he would pick it back up and put it back on his flesh.
The sickness repulsed the people of Syria to the extent that he had to leave the area. Only one of his two wives chose to travel with him. The one who remained behind was as repulsed by his sickness and belief as were others who drove him away. The wife who remained with him was seemingly very supportive and accepting of his devotion to Allah. They left Syria and travelled to the mountain top where his remains now lie.

HAZRAT JIBRIEL ALAIHIS SALAM'S conveyed Salaam at Critical Stage :-
Hazrat Jabriel Alaihis salam conveyed salam at a very critical stage when a worm was eating in tongue in the mouth of this great prophet and he was not able to answer to the salutation ( salam ) of Jabriel Alaihis salaam, again hazrat jabriel alaihis salam came next time and enquired why he was not able to answer the salam, then Hazrat Syedina Ayub alaihis salam explained Hazrat Jibriel Alaihis salam, a worm was feeding from his tongue and he would have shaken his tongue or given answer to hazrat jabriel alaihis salam then the worm would have lost his food.

This great act of this prophet pleased Allah Shanahu Thaalah and as stated, his sickness lasted over 15 years and at some point the worms began to eat inside his mouth. It was at this point that Nabi Hazrat Syedina Ayub Alaihis-salatus-salaam realized his breaking point and finally asked Allah for mercy. In response to this request, aware of the years of devotion and hardship, it is believed that Allah instructed Nabi Hazrat Syedina Ayub Alaihis-salatus-salaam to step out from his house and place his foot in a particular spot. When doing so a small hole in the ground opened up and from within the ground an outpouring of water occurred right next to his foot.

Allah then instructed him to drink this water and upon doing so, he was not only cured of his sickness but his body, then at least 250 years old, was restored to the health of an 18 year old young man. Nabi Hazrat Syedina Ayub Alaihis-salatus-salaam would then live until the age of 92 when he finally died and was put to rest in the very spot he dwelled all these years after his departure from Syria. Until now, Nabi Hazrat Syedina Ayub Alaihis-salatus-salaam's body remains in the same spot.

FOOTPRINT OF PROPHET AYUB ALAIHIS SALAM ETCHED IN A ROCK AT THE ENTERANCE OF THE DARGAH ( DARGAH ( TOMB ) ) SHAREEF :-

Sacred_Footprint_Hazrat Ayub(alaihisalam)

Prophet Ayub's footprint, along with the print of a horse's hoof, is etched in the rock at the entrance of the Dargah ( tomb ). Just outside the entrance to the Dargah ( tomb ) is a small metal door on the ground. When opened you will find a footprint which has turned to stone. Measurements of the footprint we do not know but suffice it to say, it is quite large. This very footprint is believed to be the mark left on the ground when Allah instructed Nabi Hazrat Syedina Ayub Alaihis-salatus-salaam to press his foot down. Just to the left of the footprint is a small hole in the ground where it is believed that the curing waters flowed from which he drank. The water no longer flows from this hole next to the footprint and the water source which fed this hole upon Allah's command is located 1 kilometer down the mountain.

CURING WATER SPOT 1 KILOMETER DOWN THE MOUNTAIN FROM THE DARGAH ( DARGAH ( TOMB )) AND TWO ROUTES FOR REACHING THE SAME :-
There are 2 routes to reaching to the curing water spot. The old route is down the hills from the dargah which is dangerous, so it is adviseable to all to visit this spot through the new route where news steps have have constructed for the convenience of the public to reach to this curing water spot where hazrat Syedina Ayub alaihis salatus salaam got cured after taking bath on the instructions from Allah Shanahu Thaalah. Until now, however, the water source which fed this hole upon Allah's command is located 1 kilometer down the mountain and there are no visible water trails that lead to the top. Seemingly, the water flowed up hill and inside the mountain to the very spot where Nabi Hazrat Syedina Ayub Alaihis-salatus-salaam alaihis salam pressed his foot.
(Between the print of Nabi Hazrat Syedina Ayub Alaihis-salatus-salaam's right foot and the water hole is also a print from a horse though a story about why the hoof print is there was not revealed. Perhaps upon your visit to the burial sight you could inquire yourself!)

THE REASON FOR 3 RAKHATS IN MAGRIB PRAYERS ( MAGRIB NAMAZ) :-When Allah Shanahu Thaalah asked Hazrath Syedina Ayub alaihis-salatus-salaam to take bath in the water and then he was cured after this bath and the anbiya alaihissalaam was very thankful and was able to complete 3 Rakhats at that time which was magrib time. Allah kareem recorded this great act of prophet and was very happy and pleased with his prophet hazrat syedina Ayub Alaihis-salatus-salaam for thanking allah in such a great way. This is this the reason We have 3 Rakhats in Magrib Prayers which is in the rememberance of this Anbiya on his shukhrana ( great thankfulness) to allah.

MAZAR SHAREEF OF HAZRAT SYEDINA AYUB ALAIHIS-SALATUS-SALAAM :- When you view the mazar e shareef ( grave ) itself you will immediately notice it's largeness. It is approximately 13 feet long or nearly 4 metres and over 1 1/2 meters wide. And yes, his body was indeed this large as you will witness when you view the footprint. The reality of the body of the Prophet being as large as his grave appears and it has been written that all those thousands of years ago people were large enough that they could easily reach out to a palm tree and eat of its fruits. Given the size of the footprint, the size could not be disputed!

Though his grave is covered with very special cloths with verses printed on them from the Holy Quran, beneath the cloths is the actual dirt ground in which his body has been buried.
